Entertaiment can range in scale from a single individual choosing personal entertainment such as watching a movie, to a family dinner with music and dance, or a large party with appropriate food, beverages, and entertainment. It can even include a performance intended for an audience of thousands.

Entertaining involves providing pleasure, diversion, or amusement, but may also serve a deeper purpose such as socialization or insight. It may also be seen as a way to learn and grow through play, as is the case with children’s entertainment.
