Article About Entertaiment

Entertainment is any agreeable occupation for the mind or a diversion: solving the daily crossword, watching the clown at the birthday party, attending a stadium rock concert, gossiping with friends over who backstabbed whom. The word is derived from the Latin verb entretenir, meaning “to entertain,” which originally meant to provide hospitality—to keep guests amused and satisfied. Today, we mostly use it to refer to performances: theatrical entertainment as shows, visual entertainment as stuff you like to look at, and audio entertainment as music.
